Electrotherapies

What are they?

Electrotherapies are non-invasive, evidence-based treatment modalities that use electrical, magnetic, or thermal energy to support healing, reduce pain, and enhance tissue function. As part of my comprehensive physiotherapy approach, these therapies are selected and tailored to suit each individual animal’s needs, whether for rehabilitation, pain relief, or performance enhancement.

LASER

Laser therapy uses light energy to stimulate cellular function, encouraging tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and providing pain relief.

It’s particularly effective in managing osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, and muscle soreness in both canine and equine patients.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)

PEMF therapy delivers pulsed magnetic fields to the body, promoting improved circulation, cellular metabolism, and tissue regeneration. It’s beneficial for joint issues, back pain, and general recovery in working and injured animals.

Hot / Cold Therapy

Thermal therapies use temperature to influence circulation and tissue flexibility. Heat is used to relax tight muscles and improve mobility, while cold therapy reduces inflammation and numbs acute pain—both playing a key role in injury recovery and ongoing care.
